Why don’t you open with one of your most exhilarating experience. Then segway into the equipment and different types of rock climbing. Then you can close with what your goals are in the sport.
Most people that are not climbers are interested in how you get the ropes up the mountain. Explain “lead climbing”, how you set protection as you lead, the dangers and how far you will fall past the last piece of protection, how the second follows and “cleans” the route – basically how you end up at the top without ever damaging the rock.
