We were doiing some shoe “doping” with our Fire’s (alcohol cleaning)
to prep them before doing dificult friction climbs in the early 80’s.
It is true that this creates a temporary “hyper sticky”condition to the rubber
although, we found that repeated teatments dried out the rubber causing
it to become crumbly and ultimately less sticky.
